As we enjoy the Marché Wakefield Market each week, it is easy to forget that many in our community struggle to put food on their table each day – nevermind local food. Behind the scenes, several organizations are doing their best to make it easier for a lot of these families: places like the Wakefield Food Pantry at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Wakefield, the free fridge in Rupert, as well as Le Grenier des Collines in Masham. Organizations like QUAIL House, Maison Liber-elles, the Wakefield Emergency Fund and several others also play a major role in supporting those struggling with temporary or chronic food insecurity in our community. Our local dessert fundraiser is our small contribution to these efforts. Please join us on Saturday July 4th at the Wakefield Market, where we will be serving up community solidarity alongside some delicious apple-plum cakes and crisp.
