Our History and Mission
The market began in 1997 when six vendors got together and first created the Wakefield Market. Over the years it grew and changed venues several times, but always stayed true to its values – to create a welcoming community space where local producers of food and crafts could market their goods to new and loyal customers alike. Since 2017, the Market has called the Centre Wakefield La Pêche its home, where it remains committed to showcasing vendors selling only what they produce, a wide variety of high quality goods, a space for community groups and junior vendors, a rotating musical lineup, special events, and a weekly meeting spot for long-time neighbours and new visitors to the charming village of Wakefield.
